The company TechRemove from St. Louis contracts with municipalities to help recycle old electronics. Most of the items can be recycled for free but there is a fee for recycling the following items: • CRT Monitor $5 • CRT TV $30 • Projection TV $30 • LCD TV $20 A list of acceptable materials include any items with a cord or battery including: • Computers and Networking: Desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, CRT computer monitors, LCD computer monitors, modems/touters/internet gateways/switches, servers, computer components, all cables and power cords • Home Audio: LCD TVS, plasma screen TVs, projection TVs, CRT TVs, home stereo equipment, iPods and MP3 players, radios/boomboxes, speakers and subwoofers • Pro Audio: Rack mount audio components, mixing consoles, cables, speakers and studio equipment and recording, mixing or audio equipment • Office: Printers, copiers, scanners, FAX machines, dot matrix printers, plotters and large-format printers, 3-D printers, ink and toner cartridges, shredders, paper joggers, paper cutters, paper folders, mail machines, miscellaneous office electronics • Home Video and Gaming: Projectors, blue-ray, DVD, VCR, Betamax, Laserdisc, cable boxes, satellite dishes, video game consoles and accessories • Photography and Lighting: DSLR, SLR cameras, camcorders, film cameras, camera lenses, light mixers, stage lighting fixtures • Miscellaneous: Any appliance Under 10 pounds or 14-by-14-by-14 in size, power tools, any other items with a cord or battery Materials not accepted include: smoke detectors, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, alkaline batteries, PCB ballasts, thermometers, thermostats and hazardous materials.
